Bluegrass Family Reunion

July 6th, 2008

The Goodtimers had the good fortune to perform at the Petty family reunion this past July fourth weekend in central Maine. What a great group of folks! And it was nice to be a part of a bi-annual tradition that has been happening for twenty years.

bluegrass family reunionIt seems that every two years, over fifty members of the family gather at a members home and spend time doing activities, sharing stories, having fun and heck - being a family! Past family gatherings have occurred in Wyoming, New Mexico and Tennessee.

The band has performed at bunches of events over the past few years and I have to say that the Petty family were some of the nicest folks we have met up with. We were happy to provide some fun bluegrass music to make their event a little more special!

Starry Starry Night

starry starry nightPreparations are well underway for this year's first night celebration in Orange, MA. The festivities will feature 13 different acts this year (including the Goodtime Charlies). There will be something for everyone: comedy, bluegrass, juggling, reggae, storytelling, rock and folk musicians. Be sure to check out the ice sculptures in Memorial Park, hayrides, a puppet parade - visiting puppets are welcome - and the fireworks display.  You can find out more by visiting the event website.

Gibbs/Boucher Wedding

September 26th, 2007

Gibbs/Boucher Wedding Ahhhh… weddings! Our favorite gigs! The Gibbs/Boucher wedding in Canton, Massachusetts was no exception. What a great bunch of folks! Special thanks to Kim and her mom Sue for making the GTCs feel like part of the family (and for the snapshot).

The wedding season is almost over, though we still have one more on the schedule for Columbus Day weekend.  And we are really looking forward to it - nothing goes together better than bluegrass and weddings in New England!

The band had a busy schedule last week! We played at the Blueberry Fiddle Festival last Saturday and afterwards, we picked at bass player John Meehan's birthday party.  It was a great time!

On Sunday night we performed at a surprise birthday party at the Enright's home in Hollis, NH. They were nice folks and great dancers!
