Bluegrass Family Reunion

The Goodtimers had the good fortune to perform at the Petty family reunion this past July fourth weekend in central Maine. What a great group of folks! And it was nice to be a part of a bi-annual tradition that has been happening for twenty years.

It seems that every two years, over fifty members of the family gather at a members home and spend time doing activities, sharing stories, having fun and heck - being a family! Past family gatherings have occurred in Wyoming, New Mexico and Tennessee.

The band has performed at bunches of events over the past few years and I have to say that the Petty family were some of the nicest folks we have met up with. We were happy to provide some fun bluegrass music to make their event a little more special!

Concert at Lawrence Farmer’s market

The weekly Summer Concert Series returns (July 9 - Aug. 27)!!! Last year the Lawrence Farmer’s market hosted great performances by artists ranging from a Celtic Harpist and Brazilian Percussion to Latin Jazz and Andean music. This summer, on July 30th, the Goodtime Stringband will take it back to “the farm” and entertain the masses!

Songwriter Night with the Reverend!

Justin Burns (Reverend JJ) has been playing music up and down the Merrimack Valley acoustic scene since 2002. He was formerly host to the now dearly-eparted Evos Arts Institute open mic in Lowell, MA.

When not playing solo he is most likely strumming a tune in Thunderpants Johnson’s Hillbilly Orchestra.

This series, originally developed by Jen Kearney, provides a unique forum for songwriters to play their original work alongside other songwriters and the public.

The public is welcome to come watch, eat, drink, and applaud the work of many original songwriters and artists from the area.

Songwriters interested in playing only need to show up. There is already a house mixer. speakers, mikes, and stands there.

Red Clay Rascals

Bob Sevigny and Andy will be performing with Amy J. Black on June 14th as “Red Clay Rascals.” This show promises to be a great one! Amy’s last appearance a J.P. O’Hanlons was a Boston Globe “Best Bet” and sold out well in advance. For more information click here.

Hard Times at the Cantab
